Loch Eck, Argyll Forest
We continue our reviews of the Lochs of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs with a guide to Loch Eck. Loch Eck is on the Cowal Peninsula, in Argyll Forest. A beautiful part of the National Park, the area around Loch Eck is a spectacular forest with waterfalls, cycling and walking tracks to enjoy.
As you can see from the map below Loch Eck begins just south of Glenbranter, home to a visitor centre and just north of Benmore Botanic Garden. There’s a challenging but enjoyable cycle path that runs alongside Loch Eck.
Jubilee Point, Loch Eck
The pictures above and below are of Jubilee Point, on Loch Eck, which is just off the A815. A popular and easily accessible picnic spot, Jubilee Point is also an excellent place to launch a kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard. You can read our experiences of Kayaking on Loch Eck at the link below.
Celebrating Park People
Here is a short film we produced a few years ago for the Friends of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs. That series of films celebrated a selection of people that live and work in the National Park. This one features Steve Gillon, a ranger for Forestry and Land Services Scotland. Steve is based on Cowal and chose Loch Eck as a favourite location for us to film.
