Glenfinart Walled Garden

Glenfinart Walled Garden: A Victorian Treasure in Ardentinny

Glenfinart Walled Garden is a 2B listed Victorian gem with a rich history. Built in the mid-1800s as the kitchen garden for Glenfinart Estate, it was purchased in 2012 by the Ardentinny Community Trust, a registered charity from The Forestry Commission Scotland. Since then, the garden has been lovingly restored and developed into a thriving community space that offers something for everyone.

Read on for all the information you need to plan a trip, plus some photographs from my most recent visit.

How to Find Glenfinart Walled Garden

The garden is located in Ardentinny, on the scenic western shore of Loch Long. It's easily accessible by car: a short drive from Dunoon or a pleasant ferry journey from Gourock. Look for signs for Glenfinart Walled Garden or find the entrance near the village center. Parking is available, including designated disabled spaces and public toilets, which are conveniently located by the nearby beach.

Soft Fruit and Vegetable Growing Area: This area, home to raised beds and a polytunnel, produces seasonal organic fruit and vegetables for sale.

Sensory and Reflective Garden: A peaceful haven for relaxation and mindfulness.

Children’s Garden: A magical space featuring a willow dome and tunnel, bird hide, bug hotel, strawberry beds, and a fairy ring to spark young imaginations.
