Glenfinart Walled Garden

How to find Glenfinart Walled Garden

Glenfinart Walled Garden is just a short walk from Ardentinny Beach; it does have its own parking spaces just outside, though. You can see the location of the garden on the maps below.

What to expect at Glenfinnart Walled Garden

The walled garden was built in the 1840s and is enclosed by a Grade B listed wall. It is now in the ownership of the Ardentinny Community Trust, which has allowed the community to develop it, with five distinct areas:

  1. An orchard with native apple, pear and plum trees

  2. Polytunnel for growing organic fruit and veg.

  3. A public events area

  4. Children's Garden, with bird-hide, willow tunnel and bug hotel

  5. A sensory garden, designed with help from BBC's Beechgrove Garden.

Currently, there are plans to introduce six new raised beds and a second polytunnel with gravelled walkways. Here are some photographs that were taken on a recent visit to the walled garden.

A not so 'secret' Garden

Glenfinart Walled Garden featured on the BBC's Scotland TV programme Beechgrove Garden during its early days, which helped raise its profile.

Here are some more of my photographs, well done to all involved with this wonderful community initiative.
