Milarrochy Bay, Loch Lomond
A view of the tree in the loch. One of the most photographed views of Loch Lomond and one that I get asked for the location.
It's Milarrochy Bay on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond. It also happens to feature in a series of See Loch Lomond scenic framed photographs available to purchase below.
How to get to Milarrochy Bay
From Drymen, take the B837, the dead-end road that goes as far as Rowardennan. About one mile after Balmaha and not long past a steep and winding hill, you will see the entrance to Milarrochy Bay. The free car park has toilets.
Rather than driving, you could park at the large car park in Balmaha and walk on the West Highland Way alongside Loch Lomond. It’s a beautiful walk to Milarrochy and back.
Milarrochy Bay Photographs
At Milarrochy Bay, the famous lone tree somehow manages to survive the winter despite looking somewhat precarious.
There is a caravan and campsite nearby, with the bay itself being very popular on warm summer days. Even in the winter and quieter times, you will often find people walking around, taking in and photographing the excellent views.
Here are a few more photographs from around Milarrochy Bay.

Photography Sessions at Milarrochy Bay
I’ve used this location many times for portrait photography sessions and camera training courses. The photograph below was taken on a chilly January day during a maternity photography session.
