Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre
Where is Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre?
Here is a review of a recent visit to the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre. Let's start by showing you its location on the map. The attraction is at Loch Lomond Shores at Balloch. There is free parking in the centre, and you'll find the Bird of Prey Centre on the path at the far end of the car park that leads to the shores.
Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Visitor Information
From April to September, Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre is open daily from 10 am-5 pm, between October and March. As always, before visiting any attraction, please do check the website for confirmation of hours. There is wheelchair access.
What you can see at Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre
We were greeted by a very friendly person in the ticket office and given wristbands to come and go during that day. Also, unlike the nearby Sea Life Centre, you don't need to pre-book your tickets.
Walking around the centre, which is mainly outside, one can see many birds of prey and owls. In addition, there is an education centre and a gift shop, both indoors.
Bird of Prey Flying Shows
Twice daily, there is a flying show, which is around 40 minutes, at 11.30 am and 2.00 pm. A couple of keepers take turns bringing on a bird and introducing them as they fly around a designated arena, with seating at one end. I highly recommend the shows, and if you've seen all the birds and have some time before the next scheduled performance, you can always leave and explore Loch Lomond Shores, returning just before the next show.
Visit Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre
Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre does an excellent job of explaining conservation and the role that different birds play in the wild. The staff are all knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions that you may have. You can also pre-arrange special experiences for an additional fee.
Below are more photographs from the very enjoyable shows.
