Loch Venachar
Lochs in the Trossachs
Our series of guides to the lochs of Loch Lomond & the Trossachs continues with a feature about Loch Venachar.
This beautiful loch is in the Trossachs, close to the town of Callander. The A821 road runs alongside much of the northern banks, on a beautiful drive through Kilmahog and onto Brig o' Turk towards Loch Katrine.
On the other side of the loch is Invertrossachs, NCN7, the national cycle route running close to the loch-side. The cycle between Aberfoyle and Callander, which includes Loch Venachar, is one of the most scenic routes on the route.
On the road that runs alongside the loch, you will find Wheels, a long-established bike shop. They offer bike rentals and sell bikes, including electric bikes.
Loch Venachar is home to the Ripple Retreat, a purpose-built building for children who have cancer.
More Trossachs Lochs
If you’re visiting Loch Venachar, you will also be very close to some other beautiful lochs in the Trossachs, including Loch Lubnaig, Loch Katrine, Loch Drunkie and Loch Achray.
