Loch Lomond Coffee Shops
On a day trip or holiday, it's always a pleasure to visit the local cafe or coffee shop. If you're visiting Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, let me recommend some excellent ones. I'll tell you why I like them and let you know how to find them.
For full disclosure, I have worked for some of them through my marketing and photography company. In some ways, though, that has helped me to see what makes them so good and allowed me to see the passion for creating a great experience by their owners.
Don’t be dissuaded from a Loch Lomond or Trossach coffee shop is not on the list; we’ve still got some more to visit, so like all of our guides, we are constantly updating them.
Note: the list is not ranked in any particular order.
St Mocha Coffee Shop - Balmaha
Opened in 2014 at Balmaha by the family behind the incredible Oak Tree Inn success, St Mocha serves coffee roasted on-site. You can buy bags of Loch Lomond coffee from them, with 50p from each bag sold donated to Red Squirrel conservation. Check out their cool retro t-shirts which you can purchase.
St Mocha Drive-Thru, Carbeth
The first artisan drive-thru coffee shop in the UK is at Carbeth, on the John Muir Way and a key route into the National Park for East Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
The Station, Aberfoyle
Close to the site of Aberfoyle's Train Station, in those days when the village was on a railway line, this is an excellent cafe, popular with walkers and cyclists, part of the rejuvenated Main Street.
Drymen Bakery and Deli
The new bakery is a welcome and appreciated addition to Drymen's village centre; it is popular with walkers, cyclists and locals for good food and drink. The bakery also stocks West Highland Way and other Scottish gifts.
Boat Shed Cafe at Loch Goil
I love the vibe of this cafe, right next to Loch Goil, by Loch Goil Cruisers. I've often been entertained by Red Squirrels boldly playing nearby. Like many on this list, the cafe has some good green credentials. They now sell Loch Goil gin.
Coach House Coffee Shop and Store, Luss
Luss is a pretty village to visit, it does get busy, and it's good to take a breather and enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the Coach House Coffee Shop. They also have a gift shop.
Loch Katrine
There are two cafes at Loch Katrine, one at Trossachs Pier, which provides an excellent elevated view of the pier so you can watch the cruise boats coming and going. At the other end of the loch, the Pier Cafe at Stronachlachar also has good views of the loch.
The But & Ben at Croftamie
Another favourite is on NCN7 (check out our Drymen to Balloch cycle) and the John Muir Way.
Mhor Bread, Callander
I always buy food to take home when I stop in the Mhor cafe in Callander. I love their Haggis, Black Pudding and Steak Pies.
The Blairmore on Loch Long
An excellent cafe opposite the Victorian Pier at Blairmore on Loch Long.
Real Food Cafe, Tyndrum
A good stopping place (as is the nearby Green Welly) on the A82 at Tyndrum
Wild Highlands Coffee at Maid of the Loch
Excellent takeaway coffee and treats when visiting the Maid of the Loch Paddle Steamer at Balloch.
Deli Ecosse, Callander
Excellent food and drink, plus a friendly environment at this cafe in Ancaster Square, Callander.

Broch Cafe at Strathyre
This cafe is next to NCN7, a great cycling adventure stop.
