Loch Lomond Photography Competition
We had a fantastic response to the photography competition organised through my photography business, which ran through the first seven months of 2023. The criteria were for pictures of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs.
There was a wide range of photographs with different compositions and locations. Choosing a winner from the many excellent entries was incredibly difficult.
The winner is Jamie Ballantine of Blanefield, with his photograph of a view towards the Cobbler at sunset. Pictured are the winning image and the photographer with his prize of a large wall art version of his winning photograph, plus a £50 Amazon voucher for photography books and the chance to join one of my Loch Lomond Photography Workshops.
When I presented Jamie with his prize, he told me that he was delighted his photograph won:
'I love seeing it printed and framed. Winning the competition has given me a real boost and has spurred me on to get out with the camera and continue to pursue my interest in photography'.
Well done, Jamie!

Top Photography Tips
• Keep the resolution of your photograph as high as possible. Be careful with camera phones, as the pictures can look great on a small screen, but aren’t high enough quality to print.
• Don’t feel you need to wait for spring and summer, as winter is when the sun is low in the sky and is a great time to photograph stunning light.
• The first and last hour of the day often provides wonderful photography light.
• Be inspired by what you can find online, but also look for the out-of-the-ordinary and extra-ordinary.
• The National Park is 720 square miles of amazing villages, lochs, mountains, hills, valleys, and forests; you’re spoilt for choice!
